Christmas morning

What a wonderful Christmas we had this year. The kids were so excited and we always enjoy getting to spend the day with family. Camden woke up at 4:30am and came running into our room. He was so excited having seen that Santa had come. He let Chris and I know that Santa had been there so we let him go check out what he could see without touching anything. He was awake for about 2 hours and finally fell back to sleep while trying to watch the clock until it said 6:45 so he could wake up Aubrey. She woke up around 8 and then we all got up!

This year the kids got each other gifts which was fun for them to pick out and buy for each other. Here Camden is opening the gift Aubrey got him. They have really had fun this break playing together. Most of their friends have gone out of town, so they have spent almost all of their time with each other, and they really do play so well. I love that they are close and can enjoy playing together.
This is such a cute picture to me. Aubrey was opening up her gift from her great Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Joe. It was an American Girl dog, that she loved. You can see how excited she was, after all the anitcipation of what was in that little red box with the pretty white bow! Both kids were happy and excited about every single gift they recieved- it was so fun to watch them.
After opening gifts you must play!! I loved how Camden sat right by Chris watching him put some of his toys and legos together. I think Chris was having as much fun as Cam!

After this we went to MiMi and PawPaw's for more gifts and family fun. We are lucky to have so many people that love us! After Egg McColliers and some deicious grilled duck, we headed out to see most of the extened Mokry family. The kids had fun with cousins and we enjoyed more family time.
We have definately had a wonderful year and Christmas. We are most grateful for our God and that Jesus was born on Christmas day. We try to make sure that is the focus and we celebrate the true meaning. How blessed we all are that we are saved and loved by Jesus! We are thankful for all of our family and the time we get to spend with them. As the new year begins we look back fondly on this past year and hope for another wonderful year in 2011!

2 days until Christmas!!!

We are definately in a festive spirit here at the Mokry house! The kids are having so much fun in anticipation of Christmas day. I am trying to make sure the true meaning of Christmas is not lost so we talk a lot about Jesus' birth and what that means for us. We are all excited to bake Jesus a birthday cake to celebrate His birthday and the most important gift of all!

For the last two days we have been working on gingerbread houses. Here is Aubrey's before she finished it.

And here is Camden working on his!
Camden has also been pretending to be "the elf on the shelf" just like our elf Peter! Ha! He actually looks a lot like Peter. Yesterday Camden asked Peter to bring him a cookie from the north pole, and he did! This morning both kids woke up to find big, cute cookies on a stick in their stockings. It was really cute because we were still in bed and heard Camden say "yeeess!" in the living room before running in our room to tell us :)

And this morning the kids gathered acorns for tomorrow night. A couple of years ago Chris and the kids started a little tradition of putting acorns on the sidewalk and stomping on them so the reindeer could eat them. I mentioned that we are going to be busy tomorrow so the kids gathered some acorns up so they will be ready! I made some hot chocolate for them the enjoy since it is actually a little chilly out today- yay for a chilly Christmas!

Christmastime Fun

School is out and we have had some fun. Although these pictures are out of order, you can still see what we have been doing!

Gigi took us to Build-a-Bear to make any animal we wanted. Aubrey and Jules chose a winter bear- Aubrey got a cute outfit and ice skates for her bear. Camden and Joseph chose Rudolph with a scarf and hat.
Here are Jules and Aubrey washing and brushing their bears-

Here is Aubrey with her teacher at their Christmas party on Friday!
And here Aubrey is at one of the stations during the party with some of her classmates.

After school on Friday we had a neighbor friend over and decorated cookies- yum!

December

We have had a busy and fun December so far, and it isn't even Christmas yet :) Aubrey has a cast on her left arm after falling off the monkey bars the day after Thanksgiving. She was at the park with her cousins having a great time, when suddenly the fun came crashing down! She broke her radius and has a nice pink cast to help it heal!

Here she is at the Georgetown Downtown stroll showing her crazy good hula hoop skills! It was a fun day, and we even saw the real Santa. Both kids were able to tell him what they wanted, so we are anxiously waiting to see if he brings those things.

Here you can see Camden dressed at "Jesus' dad"- Joseph. He wore this for a few days- it was pretty cute!

Aubrey also lost her first tooth! This tooth has been loose for months, and the big tooth already grew in behind it!! She did not want this tooth to fall out- she even wrote a note to the tooth fairy to see if she could keep it. Luckily the tooth fairy left her four dollars and the tooth :) And here is one more of Camden- my tired little elf!
Tomorrow is the last day of school and we are excited to have some fun family time to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas!

Halloween Fun

Well, we have had a fun October! On October 10th we had the Mokry Family Fall Party of 2010. Gigi and Poppi host a great party every year and this year did not disappoint. All the cousins were there and participated in pumpkin painting, face painting, dunking for apples, and just plain family fun! I will post pictures as soon, as I can get them to post- having some problems with that!

Aubrey had her first field trip of the year to a local farm. There were lots of animals to see and gardens to explore. I chaparoned on this trip and had a great time with my sweet group of girls!

Then just the four of us went to Sweet Berry Farms for some more fall fun. There was more face painting, hay rides, corn maze, and lots of sites to see.

Last night we went to yet another fall festival with some friends and participated in trunk-or-treating which the kids loved. Tonight we will go around with the neighbors and gather up more candy.......that I can hide and eventually secretly get rid of! Did I just say that out loud??

It has been a great and festive month and we are looking forward to November and Thanksgiving. We have a new fun calendar made out of felt and it countsdown for Thanksgiving. I got it out yesterday and the kids are already getting in holiday spirit! This is such a fun time of year and we are looking forward to lots of family time and just enjoying the season.

September flying by.....

Well with school in full swing, September has just blown right by us. It has been filled with homework, spelling tests, fun, packing lunches and trying to pretend like fall is coming! It is still warm out, but yesterday was officially the first day of fall and our Bradford Pear tree has one red leaf so cooler temps must be just around the corner!

I have not taken too many pictures this month, but here are a few to remember! PawPaw had some of his photo's displayed at a gallery! The kids and I went to see and while all the pictures were great, the see through elevators were also a highlight :)

We love to play the Wii bowling game as a family, but nothing beats actually going to the bowling alley so we went. And just as a side note- I won :) Here is Chris in action.

This picture cracks me up! First of all- the poor kids had to pose in a bowling alley for there momma. Then, Camdens shirt might be a tad too small. Then the best part of course are those great bowling shoes!

We also got our first real lego's this month! Camden loves to play with Uncle Clay's legos over at MiMi's house, but they are difficult for the younger crowd. Well, he has gotten pretty good with them so I bought some for us at our house. I even impressed myself with this alligator I made! It was followed by a house, dog, duck, and wagon! Who knew after all these years I would have so much fun with legos!

And finally, this is Aubrey (a little blurry) this morning before school. It is picture day and she is picture perfect!

We are looking forward to fall and all that comes with it! Hopefully I will capture it all on camera and get it posted to share!

Camden's Turn

Camden also started school, a week after Aubrey. He loves his teacher, Ms. Colleen who was also Aubrey's teacher! She is so fun and sweet, and I think she will be great for Camden! They started working on writing their letters and numbers from the first day and I am so excited for Camden!

Okay on to the fun stuff.....pictures! So, you know how they say raising boys is different than raising girls- it is sooo true!!!! Here are Camden's first day of school pictures:

Don't ask, I have no idea. He just started posing and this is what we got!

But, then we got this :) Here he is at the fountain at the church where his school is! My sweet baby boy!

Coming to a close.....

Well, our summer is quickly coming to the end. It has been so much fun and busy but in a relaxing way (if that makes any sense). Lots of time to play with neighbors and enjoy being a kid or a stay at home mom who gets to watch her kids grow and play :)

Tomorrow night is the "welcome walk", where Aubrey's new first grade teacher will come to our house for us to meet. All the teachers walk the neighborhood and meet their new students and parents for the first time. We are so excited and can't wait to find out who Aubrey will have teaching her this year! Her first day of school is next Tuesday and it will also be my first night of class teaching again this semester. I am looking forward to that and feeling a little more confident now that I have a semester of teaching under my belt.

Since it has been a month since I posted, I am going to post a few pictures I took on my phone from the past month. It is a glimpse into this part of our summer.

Camden had heard about Venus Fly Traps somewhere and really wanted one, so we found one. Unfortunately it is no longer with us, but it was fun while it lasted. We did put one fly in, and it closed up, but shortly after the whole plant died so I guess it was a bad idea to put a dead fly in it??!!
Here is the only picture I have from VBS. Aubrey looked away right as I took the picture :) Then one day in late July my neighbor taught me how to make Halupki's. They are a polish food of cabbage with a meat mixture inside. Chrissy's mom had made them before one time while visitng and we loved them, so Chrissy said she would teach me. It was so much fun, and not hard to make. They are time consuming so it was fun to make with a friend! Everyone enjoyed them!

Here are the kids scooping out watermelon and enjoying some in the process. I don't think Camden got any in the bowl!

Here Camden is jumping off a diving board that belongs to my parents neighbors. They were out of town and offered their pool for the week. We went over a couple of times and had a great time. We have visited our neighborhood pool a number of times- Chris likes to take the kids in the evening when he gets home. He is such a fun dad!

Here is a picture of my parents backyard. Just wanted to have a picture to remember it :) I always think it is interesting to look back at pictures like these, don't know why.

On August third Samuel Edward Flick was born to Alicia and Eddie. I was so happy to be there for his birth- a full head of the blondest hair I have ever seen on a new born! The kids stayed with Aunt Angie and the girls while I was at the hospital all day and most of the night. They had so much fun and I was grateful to not have to worry about my kiddos while I was there for Alicia.

On our drive home from Houston we stopped for a tour at the Blue Bell Ice Cream Creamery. It was fun to see them making our favorite ice cream and to get a sample too :)

And lastly I am so excited about our "new" dishes!! Growing up my mom had corelle dishes. Never really gave them much thought. My Aunt Sue had the same ones in Indiana which I thought was so neat. Well, sometime before I was married I mentioned that I never wanted to see those dishes given away. So when my Aunt Sue and Uncle Steve drove down for my wedding they brought me all those dishes. I was so excited, but also had my new dishes Chris and I picked out. Well, those corelle dishes have been boxed up at my parents house ever since. I mentioned to my mom this past weekend that I was tired of the kids eating on "kids" plastic plates or paper plates, and my stone dishes were to heavy and big for them so I was headed out to buy some good old corelle- she reminded me that she had "mine" at her house!!! I was so excited and we have been loving them ever since! Here the kids are using them- they especially love the cups and saucers :)

Well, there you have it! One very long post about our summer!

What we have been up to-

Last night Chris and I went to the Express game. We sat in a box- we both agreed that it will be hard to go back to the regular seats. It was fun even though the team was having a tough time!
Here is a picture from the party Friday night. This is my friend Bevyn's dad, Art, taking picture of Cam. Art played and joked with Camden all night, and after he left Camden asked if we could go to his house sometime- pretty cute!
Isn't this cake adorable!! Bevyn had these for the party. Somehow I don't have a picture of sweet Tessa, but she was as cute as ever! We are so happy for their family and glad we were able to celebrate with them!

Today started our week at VBS. This year the theme is High Sea's Expedition. Both kids had a great time today so it will be a fun week. I'm helping out in the galley (snacks station) which is in the air condition- so that is a plus! The daily snacks symbolize a story they learn each day and they are all really cute. Today was Peter's Jail mix (like trail mix)- pretty funny!

Not a lot going on.....

This week has been pretty low key. It was rainy most of the week so we stayed indoors for the most part. There were a couple highlights though- I got to have my mom's house cleaner come clean my house since she wasn't needed at their house. It is so nice to have the entire house cleaned at once. The kids and I spent most of that day at MiMi and Papa's house so we would be out of our house. I ended up vacuuming and cleaning out their refridgerator- it must follow me!

Then the most fun was Friday night. Our good friends the Pageler's had an adoption party for their sweet baby girl. Friday afternoon she offically became a Pageler (they have had her since she was born six months ago)! They had the party out in Walberg, TX. Lots of friends and family and so much fun. Tessa is six months old now and so adorable. Tim and Bevyn are the best parents and so excited to have this finalized and behind them! I have some pictures, but need to download them, hopefully by tomorrow!

I almost forgot to add that Chris went and had his hair cut at the salon I go to! It looks so good. He had the sides cut and left the top a little longer- I love it! For the past few years he has cut his own hair with clippers- short all over. I love his hair a little longer and think he is so handsome with his new cut!

Sunday night (tonight) we have a date night. For Fathers day my parents got Chris box tickets for an Express Game. It is in the Dell box and should be a lot of fun! I will get a couple pictures of Chris' new "do" to post!

Our July 4th

Our Fourth of July 2010 started out with a great patriotic service at our church. Here are Aubrey and Chris before heading to church. Unfortunatly we didn't get any pictures with Aubrey's eye's open! Our camera broke last week, so we are having to use my iphone and the quality isn't great :/
Here I am with the kids, all in our red white and blue!

After church we headed to downtown Round Rock for the parade. I loved this house behind Aubrey when I was a little girl- so fun to see my sweet girl sitting in front of it!

My adorable babies waving as the parade goes by! They got lots of candy and had so much fun. I was a proud mama watching them share their candy with other kids and seeing them watch out for each other. Such fun ages they are at right now!
Later in the evening after dinner with neighbors we took all the kids to see some fireworks. Chris has found great spot to watch fireworks- you can see fireworks all over the city.

Hope everyone had a fun July 4th holiday this year!

Family Fun

Chris had today off for the July 4th holiday, and we used the day with daddy for fun! We started off by going to see "Toy Story 3". It was a cute movie and we all enjoyed it.

After that we came home for grilled cheese sandwiches. I went to buy some red jewlery to wear to church tomorrow with my blue dress, while Chris and the kids relaxed at home. After that we decided to head out on an adventure. We didn't know where we were going, and ended up at the State Capital! It was a fun impromtu adventure!

Here are the kids in front of it! I love the fence with the stars on it!
Aubrey enjoyed standing on the star in the middle of the rotunda, looking up at the star on the ceiling and spinning around.

Here Chris is explaining the picture of the surrender of Santa Anna to Camden. I am sure you all know that the Battle of San Jacinto occured on April 21st, 1836. April 21st also happens to be Chris' birthday :)
And we can't forget Davy Crockett!
Here is a reinactment of......"FIRE" After this we were all hungry. We went to Magnolia cafe for some delicious pancakes and some fantastic omlettes. Then we drove around Westlake looking at some beautiful houses.
We finally made it back home and baked some cookies for the neighbors. It was a fun filled day! Now we can't wait to celebrate the 4th tomorrow. On the agenda is church, the Round Rock parade and watching fireworks. I'm sure we will have another adventure!
